There are six usage tiers: “Very low”, “Low”, “Medium”, “High”, “Very high”, and “Unlimited”. In the “Unlimited” tier, all usage categories can be used without limits.
Background actions also count here: document search and website reading during a chat or assistant answer, ingesting/indexing documents into a data pool, and generating text embeddings
Setting a category's limit to €0.00 fully blocks that category for the affected usage tier. Even the very first attempt in that category (e.g. the first image-generation try) triggers "usage limit reached" — regardless of whether anything in that category was used before.
Usage-tier limits reset automatically at the start of every calendar month (UTC midnight on the 1st). All usage counted toward a member's tier — across all four categories — is set back to zero at that point.
Note
You can see exactly when your limit resets under Settings > Profile next to your usage bar.
You can find usage limits in the sidebar. At the top, you’ll see the different usage tiers.
Step 2
In the screenshot, there are two users in the “Very low” tier with a limit of €5.00 per user.
Step 3
The total shows 2 * €5.00 = €10.00 for the “Very low” tier.
Step 4
Here you can see the overall budget, in the screenshot also 2 * €5.00 = €10.00, because users in the “Unlimited” tier are not counted.
Step 5
If you click Edit, you’ll get to the limit settings per usage category. A dialog opens where you can set the four limits individually for each usage tier.
Admins are notified about open upgrade requests in the sidebar:
In the lower section of Settings > Usage limits, admins can approve or reject user upgrade requests:
Under “Bulk actions”, you can approve or reject all pending requests at once. Clicking the button triggers the action immediately — there's no confirmation dialog and no phrase to type.
Note
Users are notified via email when their upgrade request is approved or rejected.
The history of past requests is available under Past.
Instead of reviewing every request manually, admins can turn on “Auto-upgrade” at the top of Settings > Usage limits. When enabled, upgrade requests are approved automatically — instantly, without any admin action — as long as the requested tier is at or below the tier set under “Auto-approve up to”. Requests asking for a tier above that ceiling still land in the manual queue described above.
Note
This is the fastest way for users to get unblocked on their own: with auto-upgrade on and a high enough ceiling, a user who hits their limit can request the next tier and keep working immediately, with no admin round-trip.
Here you can see the current usage tier (in the screenshot: “High”), the amount already used (€132.47), and the total sum of usage limits (€175.00). Below, the spending per usage category is listed.
Step 3
Here you can request an upgrade to the next higher usage tier.
