MCP

MCP connects assistants to custom tools and data sources through a standardized protocol. An MCP server describes the functions, resources, and reusable prompts it intends to provide. The assistant sees only this published interface.

The server is connected to meinGPT through a reachable URL and assigned to the intended assistant. Authentication can use headers or forwarded identity. A tool should expose only the parameters and actions required by the use case. Returned data becomes part of the assistant context and needs matching protection.

MCP standardizes the connection but does not replace permissions, validation, or business approval in the provided service. Write actions need additional checks and logging. For supported standard services, an integration is simpler; connect a local MCP server through Outpost when it should not be externally reachable.
