Migrate to the new Vault
Move an older on-premise Vault to the modernized, easier-to-run version by reconnecting your existing sources
We have substantially modernized the on-premise Vault: simpler setup, a maintained application with ongoing updates, and a more robust connection. If you run a previous-generation vault, you move over by setting up a fresh vault and reconnecting your existing sources.

Why the move is straightforward
A vault does not store your original data — it holds a derived index of your own source systems (SharePoint, S3, local files, Confluence, and more). Your original data stays untouched in those systems.
That's why the move is a re-onboarding, not a data lift: you create a new vault, reconnect the same sources, and let it re-index. No original data is lost, because the index can always be rebuilt from your sources.
Step by step
Create a new vault
Create a new vault in Company Settings → Data Vaults. See Create DataVault for details.
Connect the vault (pairing)
Set up the meinGPT Vault application on your infrastructure and enter the pairing code. The vault opens the outbound Bridge connection on its own — no inbound firewall access required.
Reconnect each source
Reconnect the same sources you used before (SharePoint, S3, local files, …). See Data sources for the full list of supported sources.
Verify indexing
Wait for the initial indexing to finish, then run a test search to confirm your content is found.
Decommission the old vault
Once the new vault is connected and returning results, you can take the old vault out of service.
