The native Gmail connector reads and searches mail in the signed-in Google user's context. It can load selected attachments, classify messages, and save replies as drafts. Labels can restrict access to defined parts of the mailbox. Sending and deleting remain separate actions with elevated permissions.

A person connects their Google account through OAuth. The assistant sees only mail available to that account and can be restricted to selected labels. It translates natural-language requests into Gmail searches by sender, subject, date range, or content and loads only selected attachments into the chat. Drafts work with the standard connection; sending and deleting require additional write permissions and should be approved deliberately.

Security and operations

Limit OAuth permissions and labels to the actual use case. A draft workflow with human approval is the safe default for replies. Define write access, logging, and deletion before rollout.

Known limitations

  3. 03The assistant works in the user context of the signed-in Google account - without the corresponding permission it cannot read a message, and label scoping can narrow access deliberately.
