Connect Microsoft Outlook to meinGPT

Search mail and calendars, read attachments, prepare drafts, and create appointments in the signed-in Microsoft user's context.

The native Outlook connector gives meinGPT controlled access to the signed-in person's mailbox and calendar. It can search and read messages, load selected attachments, prepare drafts, and create or update appointments. Actions use delegated Microsoft permissions; sending, deleting, and cancelling remain explicit operations.

A person connects their Microsoft work or school account through OAuth. The assistant calls Outlook only when the task requires it and can be restricted to selected mail folders. Reading and drafting use the user's existing access. Sending messages, deleting mail, inviting attendees, or cancelling events have an external effect and should remain behind confirmation.

Setup in the docs

Typical workflows

  • Find and summarise relevant mail
  • Prepare a reply as a draft
  • Prepare and update appointments

What the integration makes possible

01

Find and summarise relevant mail

Search by sender, subject, folder, or date range and turn the selected messages into a concise brief with open actions.

02

Prepare a reply as a draft

Use the message thread and selected attachments to write a reply that a person can review before sending.

03

Prepare and update appointments

Read the calendar, identify available time, and create or update an appointment after the details have been checked.

Clarify before starting

  1. 01Microsoft work or school account and tenant approval are available.
  2. 02Required mail folders and calendars have been identified.
  3. 03Approval rules for sending, deleting, inviting, and cancelling are defined.

Review the prompt and result openly

Prompt

Find all Outlook mail from ACME from the last 14 days. Summarise the open requests, name the responsible person where stated, and prepare a reply draft for the newest unanswered message.

Result

**4 relevant messages found.** Open: confirm delivery date, provide the revised quote, and schedule the technical review. A reply draft was prepared for the latest message; no message was sent.

Does this connection fit your use case?

We clarify the source, permissions, and connection required for the concrete use case. If the existing integration fits, you can move straight to setup afterwards.

Security and operations

Use delegated OAuth, restrict assistants to the folders they actually need, and keep irreversible or externally visible actions behind approval. Shared mailboxes are available only where the connected account already has access.

Review before choosing

  • Delegated permissions and folder scope
  • Confirmation for externally visible actions
  • Support for shared mailboxes and tenant policies

Known limitations

  1. 01The connector uses the permissions of the signed-in user and cannot bypass Microsoft access controls.
  2. 02Online Archive mailboxes are not part of the supported scope.
  3. 03Sending, deleting, inviting, and cancelling have a real external effect and should require confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, if the required write permission is granted. A safer default is to create a draft and let a person review and send it.
